Year 7 Textiles

In a bid to add new skills to their repertoire, Year 7 students applied their knowledge of block print and embroidery to the design, decoration and assembly of their very own hand-made cushions. Adhering to the set design criteria, they used the decorative technique of block printing to create a repeat pattern inspired by Pop Art, before concluding their designs by hand-sewing the edges and stuffing the cushions to create a completely original and innovative cushion. This enabled students to combine their practical skills and creative thinking to design and produce a project that meets human needs with a functional purpose.
